Spring Fest + a hooptie

Over the weekend our little village had a big festival going on Friday and Saturday night. On Friday night we walked down to the main road where they had a ton of booths set up selling food, souvenirs and carnival rides. They also had a huge stage set up where K-Pop bands were performing all night. Eisley got try her first bite of cotton candy and ride her first ride.

On Saturday we woke up to a big rain storm. Luckily it cleared out by afternoon so we could go to the festival on base. They opened the main gate and let civilians in and had bounce houses, food booths and lots of fun stuff to do. Gary Sinise and the Lieutenant Dan Band (from Forest Gump!) were performing that night too. The weather was perfect and it was such a fun time. Gary Sinise is a really good man that does a lot for veterans. If you ever have a chance to see his band perform I highly suggest you take it!

He invited all the kids on stage and Eisley was too afraid to go up so she just stood off to the side.

Ending the night the right way with funnel cake.

So we bought a car on Monday! It's a hooptie! I had to look up the word because I kept hearing people refer to their cars as hoopties when we moved here. So in case you don't know: hooptie (noun) An old, worn out car. It's a bit of a hassle to bring your car over here and the drivers are crazy so the chance of bringing a nice car from the states to get banged up is more than what most people want to risk. It's also extremely difficult to bring a Korean car back to the states. So soldiers that are moving in and out sell their cars for dirt cheap. That's how we stumbled upon this golden girl.

It's a '97 Hyundai Sonata, and while it has quite a bit of character (haha) it runs well! We were lucky enough to pay much less than what we set our budget at so we have money left over to put a new battery and tires on it. We needed a car so that Eisley and I can get back and forth from base and run errands when it's really hot in the summer or snowing in the winter and this car will be perfect for that! We still plan on using trains/subways for most of our traveling. It's cheaper, safer and faster!

A couple of bath time pictures because it's her favorite time of day besides when her dad reads books to her before bed. He tells her to choose three but ends up reading five or six to her. Pushover ;) Eisley's vocabulary has really started to blossom lately. The other night on our walk home from base she repeated at least 20 different words for me and says two word sentences sometimes. It's so fun to watch her grow, this is my favorite age so far.

Her hair is getting so long!

And our week in pictures to finish it off!
